Obsessing Over What We Cannot Control

Why do we obsess over things we have no control over?

That was brought up in a conversation I had last night...

Obsession ~ thinking of the same thing over and over again...

or seeing the same situation over and over again...

trying to fix it...

yet with no results or no control over it...

Funny how we can be like that

I found this statement so impacting on me

more so because I have been dealing with worry and

obsessing about things, situations and people

that I really don't have any control over

It's such a waste.

It makes you sick.

It cuts into your life.

It sucks the life out of you.

Really what do we have control over?

For the most part...

Our own actions

Our own responses

Our own thoughts

We have no control over anyone else or anything else

It comes down to once again...

that lovely word

Choice

Choosing not to obsess 

over what we have no control over

makes for a better day

It makes for a God day

Letting God be in control of the outcome

God cannot work in you if you are

obsessing about something that you have

no business obsessing about

When you take control

You leave God out

It takes up all your time and energy and you

have nothing left to give to God

You are empty

You are exhauseted

You are grumpy

You are not you

You cannot see Hope

It's a great distraction ... isn't it?

Proverbs 3:5-6
