It starts with ME

(UNKNOWN MONK 1100AD)
When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world. I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation. When I found I couldn’t change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn’t change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family. Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world.

I love this piece of writing...its starts with us...I find at times I am so busy...wanting to change 'the world' that I have forgotten the simplest of all things...it starts with me...I need to start to live into what I want to see in the world...this is starting to be important to me now...or maybe more important.
I can get so busy with stuff...or so mad...so upset...at others...at not listening, not seeing, not understanding...but - HEY - it starts with me...I need to be the example...of what I think is important.
So...I need to decide what's important, what's worth fighting for, what can I let go, what do I need to stand up for, who do I fight for, who do I speak up for, whom am I silent for - or is that even something I can do...what do I join, what do I say no to...it starts with me...what is important to me...how do I live that out.
I can't get sloppy now...
